As some of you may know, J.E. Shannon & Associates likes the Firefox browser for the most part. We even suggest its use to our clients. At J.E. Shannon & Associates, we always test web design compatibility across browser platforms, including Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Google Chrome. But starting from Firefox version 4, the browser has become bloated and browses slower than previous versions. Although, it's still not as slow as Internet Explorer. Sometime today, we expect that the folks at Mozilla will release the version 6 of the Firefox Browser.

Mozilla has announce that the new Firefox will have the following enhancements:

- The address bar now highlights the domain of the website you're visiting

- Streamlined the look of the site identity block

- Added support for the latest draft version of WebSockets with a prefixed API

- Added support for EventSource / server-sent events

- Added support for window.matchMedia

- Added Scratchpad, an interactive JavaScript prototyping environment

- Added a new Web Developer menu item and moved development-related items into it

- Improved usability of the Web Console

- Improved the discoverability of Firefox Sync

- Reduced browser startup time when using Panorama

J.E. Shannon & Associates looks forward to this new release. The issue we are most concerned about is the speed of browsing. The speed that your website loads affects how your website ranks and how long your potential clients are willing to browse past your homepage (if that).  Once Mozilla posts the final release on their site, we will post the download link, test it, and give these to you in an update via our comments to let you know what we find out.
